ECO Label ™ International Certification © 2021 ecolabel.org
Eco Label is defined as a voluntary environmental performance certification and labeling method applied all over the world, where you can identify products or services that have proven to be environmentally preferable in a certain category.
For this reason, an Eco Label can be awarded to every product and service that meets the criteria of the Eco Label certification program. Criteria have already been established for a wide variety of non-food and non-medical product groups, including detergents, paper towel rolls, laptops, clothing and tourist accommodation.
The Eco Label certification program covers a wide range of product groups. Scientists, industry, experts in a wide variety of sectors and non-governmental organizations participate in the development of stringent environmental and fitness for use criteria. Each set of criteria goes through several rounds of discussion between these stakeholders. The criteria are finally adopted by a European Commission Decision. Because the life cycle of each product and service is different, criteria are adapted to address the unique characteristics of each product type.
On average, every four years, criteria are revised to reflect technical innovations such as the evolution of materials, manufacturing processes or emission reduction, and changes in the market. So you can be sure that Eco Label continues to represent the highest environmental performance.
